An awesome, clean and friendly sex shop for women and queer folks? Yes, please. Venus Envy Ottawa is one of two small Canadian sex shops, the other being Halifax, which also has a full bookstore.

It first opened in 2001 on Parent Avenue in the Byward market, before moving to 318 Lisgar Street in 2005, which interestingly was the last home of the GO Centre. When that building was sold and slated for demolition, it moved around the corner to its current location at 226 Bank.

The store is open and inviting, bright and clean with a wide variety of books, lubes, condoms, dildos/vibrators, strap-ons and much more. It also offers an excellent educational series of monthly workshops on women's and LGBT persons' sexual health and education.

After a recent fire, the storefront has closed tothe public but you can still purchase items online.
