Fred Russell opened a smoke shop in the Byward Market area, on Clarence Street, in or around 1985. Russell was also the one-time manager of Taktiks nightclub nearby on Rideau Street. The shop is one of the few at the time that carries queer political/interest and gay male pornographic magazines, as well as 'poppers'.
