Kevin Hatt

Kevin Hatt is an HIV+ gay man who since 1996 proudly calls Ottawa home. For many years he has volunteered with various community agencies in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Moncton and Halifax.

Kevin has served as a Director with the Board of the AIDS Committee Ottawa (ACO) (2002-2006 and 2010-2016). Formally Chair of Board of the GLBTTQ Community Centre as well he sat on the Equity and Diversity Committee for the city of Ottawa, For many years he has been a delegate at Ontario AIDS Network (OAN), Canadian Treatment Information Exchange (CATIE) and the Canadian AIDS Society (CAS) members’ meetings and Persons Having AIDS (PHA) caucuses.

Kevin has also been pleased to have contributed to the Boards of the Ontario AIDS Network as Member at Large and CATIE as a Regional Director for the Ontario Region. He has extensive experience in committee work both at the strategic and operational level.

Kevin's educational training encompasses: Theology (1973-1976), Hospitality (1978) Funeral Service Education (1980-1987), Festival Planing (1996-1999), Positive Leadership Development Institute (PLDI) level three graduate (2014) and various Board Roles and Responsibilities seminars throughout the years.

Kevin’s vocational background includes work in the media as the host of "Definitely Not Straight Radio" a weekly current affairs radio program for the Ottawa’s Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Trans, Two-spirit, and Queer Ottawa Community (GLBTTQ) and his careers in bar tending, restaurant management and Funeral Service has given him many skills and unique insights regarding grief and bereavement issues in HIV/AIDS. He is deeply committed to issues of social justice and improving the health and quality of life, empowering citizens of all ages, abilities, classes, and diverse communities of people living in Ottawa.
